*Ridge American Legion Post 255 sponsors American Legion Baseball for St. Mary's County. This program affords high school age county youth an opportunity to be involved in a nation-wide program dedicated to developing both baseball skills and discipline. The Post has a Senior team consisting of 16 to 18 year olds, and a Junior team made up of 14 to 16 year old players. The season runs from late May to early August, with games played within a six county area. Home games are played at Regional Park on Chancellors Run Road in Lexington Park. The teams will usually participate in a tournament out-of-state mid-way through the season, where they play teams from many different East coast regions. These tournaments are always attended by college and professional baseball scouts. Tryouts for the teams are held in May each year, with times and location advertised in the local paper.
