| Early Maryland History - 1633 to 1700: The students will follow the developement of the Lord Baltimore's colony from its first settlers and the landing on St. Clement’s Island in 1634 to its changing to a Royal colony circa 1700. Peter Himmelheber, a well-known local historian will be the instructor. |
| History of Mechanicsville and Charlotte Hall: An historic overview of Northern St. Mary’s County featuring points of interests such as All Faith Church, Cremona, the White House and Dent Chapel at Charlotte Hall, Horse Range, home of Senator Henry Fowler, and De La Brooke (a colonial manor house). The course instructor will be Dr. J. Roy Guyther, a well-known county physician and author of five historical books on St. Mary’s County. |
| Looking for Maryland’s Lost Voices: This seminar will take both a serious and a light-hearted look at Maryland’s linguistic roots, and in particular, the development of language in St. Mary’s County. Joyce Bennett, local linguist and historian, will teach this course |
